Use FreeMaint on Android and iOS devices
Install the FreeMaint mobile app on iOS and Android — including manual APK sideload and first-login walkthrough
The FreeMaint mobile app is the field-facing companion to the web product. Technicians use it to scan QR codes, complete work orders, log meter readings, capture photos, and chat with the office — all from the shop floor. It works on iOS and Android, and is also available as a direct APK for environments where the Play Store is restricted.
For organisations whose phones cannot reach the Play Store — for example, dedicated devices on a private MDM — we provide a signed APK on request: write to contact@freemaint.com. The APK is signed with the same certificate as the Play Store build, so updates flow cleanly.
On first launch you can sign in with your existing FreeMaint email + password. SSO (SAML/OIDC) is not yet available in the mobile app — sign in on the web for that. If you are a username-based user (no email), enter username@your-company-slug as the identifier.
The app keeps working when the signal drops. What you do offline is saved on the phone, marked “Pending sync”, and sent automatically when the connection returns — in the order you did it, never twice, and dated at the time you actually did it (up to 72 hours earlier). On a weak network, a change that cannot reach the server within a few seconds is saved on the phone the same way instead of failing. This needs the latest version of the app from the store.
At first launch the app requests a small set of permissions. Each one is requested only when first needed and can be revoked from the device settings later.
Enable auto-updates in your app store. New mobile releases ship roughly every two weeks and include security fixes alongside features.
Issue: Cannot find FreeMaint in the App Store / Play Store
Solution: Make sure your store country matches a supported one. The app is currently available worldwide; if it is missing, contact support with your country and device model.
Issue: Install fails on Android with a signing error
Solution: Uninstall any previous build (development APK) before installing the production version. Different signing keys cannot coexist.
Issue: Notifications never arrive on iOS
Solution: Settings → FreeMaint → Notifications → enable Allow Notifications. Then log out and back into the app to refresh the device token.

This is the fastest way to reach a screen the new app does not have yet — and it is exactly what the previous app was: this website, in a frame. One difference to know: the home-screen version cannot send you push notifications. That is what the native app is for.
Sign in to the app
Same credentials as the web app.
Turn on Settings > Unlock with Face ID or fingerprint to lock the app when it goes to the background. It protects a phone left on a bench — it is not a second password, and it never replaces your password or two-factor code.
Stays logged in until you log out or admin revokes access.
Use strong passwords. Log out on shared devices.
Scan asset QR codes
Fastest way to reach an asset or a part in the field. On a phone, scanning brings up quick actions tailored to your permissions — and the actions differ depending on whether you scanned an asset or a part.
Useful when several machines share the same name and only differ by serial number: create the work order without an asset, then scan the machine's label in front of it. Open the work order, tap the … menu and choose « Attach asset (scan) ». The label can be a FreeMaint QR code, a barcode, or the manufacturer's serial number plate — no sticker required. The row only appears while the work order has no asset yet, and only if you may edit it. Offline, the change is saved on the phone and applied as soon as you have signal again.
A part label opens its stock level and lets you take units out. Use it on a work order so the cost is booked against that job; taking it without one is possible but records no job cost.
An administrator can restrict what a QR scan reveals to people without an account (Company Settings → Intervention Request form → Public QR landing page). It never affects you: signed into the app you keep seeing the full asset whatever the level, because the app sends your session with every scan.
Durable labels for harsh environments.
Manage WOs on phone
Full WO access from mobile.
Designed for technicians on the move.
Run an inspection round from the phone
Fill in an inspection round while standing in front of the equipment. Reading rounds works on every plan; filling them in requires the Starter plan or higher.
Complete the round when every required checkpoint is answered. If one is missing, or a checkpoint that requires a photo has none, the app names it before sending. A failed checkpoint can raise a corrective work order automatically when the template asks for it.
Started the wrong round? Tap ⋮ at the top right, then Discard. It needs a connection.
Some templates require scanning the equipment QR before the round can start — the phone is the only place that works.
Document with camera
Camera integration for quick documentation.
Each work order photo carries a Before or After badge. A photo added before the work starts counts as Before, one added afterwards as After, and the completion screen has its own Before and After tiles. Press and hold a photo to change its classification. Photos without a badge — for example those carried over from a request — are shown last.
Before/after photos create visual maintenance history.
Mobile alerts setup
Real-time alerts for assignments, approvals, and status changes.
Only enable work-relevant alerts.
