Building monthly walkthrough inspection checklist

Roof — No visible damage, missing covering or ponding seen from safe vantage points

Gutters and drains — Gutters, downpipes and roof outlets clear and not overflowing

Facade — No new cracks, spalling, loose cladding or loose fixtures that could fall

Walkways and parking — Paths and parking free of potholes, raised slabs and debris

Exterior lighting — External lights working at entrances, paths and parking

Entrance doors — Entrance doors open, close and lock correctly; closers and automatic doors work

Fire doors — Fire doors close fully onto the latch, are not wedged open and seals are intact

Emergency exits — Emergency exits unobstructed inside and outside; panic hardware opens freely

Floors — Any trip hazard (lifted carpet, broken tile, loose mat, trailing cable)?

Ceilings and walls — No water stain, active leak, damaged or missing ceiling tile

Lighting — Interior lighting

• All lights working (Conforming)
• A few lamps out
• An area poorly lit or dark (Non-conforming)

Signage — Safety, exit and fire equipment signs in place and legible

Restrooms — Taps, toilets and urinals work; no leak, no blocked drain

Ventilation — Restroom extract fans running

Technical rooms — Plant and electrical rooms locked, dry and not used for storage

Remarks — Defects to raise as work orders
