Door lock — Key card opens the door; door closes and latches by itself; privacy lock works

Smoke detector — Smoke detector present, undamaged, not covered, status light normal

Evacuation plan — Evacuation plan on the back of the door present and legible

Door viewer and guard — Door viewer clear and door guard or chain secure

Taps and shower — Good flow, hot water available quickly, no drip, mixer works

Water outlets — Run all taps and the shower for a few minutes (room left unoccupied)

Toilet — Toilet flushes and refills, no continuous running, seat firm

Drains — Basin, shower and bath drain freely, no odour

Sealant — Silicone joints and grout intact, no mould

Extract fan — Bathroom extract fan runs

Air conditioning — Unit responds to the thermostat, cools or heats, runs quietly, no drip

Air filter — Clean the air conditioning return grille and filter

Lighting — All lights and switches work, including bedside and bathroom lights

Sockets — Sockets and USB outlets work; no loose, cracked or scorched faceplate

TV — TV and remote work, channels and default input set

In-room safe — Safe locks with a test code and opens with the override; battery not low

Bed and furniture — Bed frame, headboard, chairs and desk stable, no sharp edge

Wardrobe and drawers — Doors, hinges, drawers and curtain tracks run smoothly

Walls and floors — Condition of walls, floors and paintwork
