The annual 12-month inspection grid

Visualize a full year of inspections per asset and template in one view

6 min read

The annual grid is the at-a-glance view of how a single asset performed against a single template over 12 months. It mirrors the paper grid most plants already use for monthly checks, but with live data, colour-coded cells, and one-click drill-down to each individual execution.

Open the grid

From any execution detail page, click "Open annual grid" in the header. Alternatively, navigate to /inspections/grid and pick a template + asset + year. The view is a matrix: items as rows (grouped by section bands), 12 months as columns, cells coloured by status.

Reading the colours

Green

Cell completed with status OK. The item passed its check for that month.

Red

Cell completed with status FAIL. Investigate immediately โ€” and the auto-WO may already have been created if the template opted in.

Amber

Cell completed but status PENDING โ€” usually means the technician entered a value but didn't mark OK/FAIL yet.

Grey

No cell exists yet โ€” the execution is still SCHEDULED, or the item was added to the template after this month's execution started.

Drill into a cell

Click any coloured cell to jump to the underlying execution at that item. From there you see the full context โ€” who filled it, when, what action code, photos, notes. The annual grid is read-only for cell data; edits happen on the execution page.

When a year changes

Change the year selector in the header to view 2025 vs 2026 โ€” each year is its own grid. The (template, asset, year, month) uniqueness constraint guarantees one execution per month per (template+asset) pair, so the grid never shows duplicates.

Annual PDF export

The "Download annual PDF" button on the grid page generates an A4 landscape report with the same matrix, ready for ISO-9001 audit binders. Action codes legend, signature lines, and the company logo are included. The PDF respects your selected UI language.

Practical workflows

  • Audit prep โ€” print the annual PDF for each critical asset before your ISO surveillance visit.
  • Reliability review โ€” scan the grid for any item that has red cells multiple months in a row. That's an asset or procedure issue, not a one-off failure.
  • New asset onboarding โ€” open the grid for last year, see what was checked, and reuse the template for a new identical asset.
  • Multi-year trend โ€” compare 2024 / 2025 / 2026 grids side-by-side (different browser tabs) to spot drift in compliance rate.
