Maintenance Concepts

Work Order (WO)

A formal maintenance task with details, assignment, parts, and time tracking. Reference: WO-1, WO-2...

Preventive Maintenance (PM)

Scheduled maintenance at regular intervals (time-based) or based on equipment readings (meter-based) to prevent failures.

Intervention Request

A maintenance request submitted by any user, going through approval before becoming a work order. Reference: REQ-1, REQ-2...

Corrective Maintenance

Unplanned maintenance to restore equipment after a failure or breakdown.

Downtime

Period when an asset is not operational. FreeMaint tracks duration, reason, and cost.

Asset Concepts

Asset

Equipment or machinery requiring maintenance. Reference: ASS-1, ASS-2...

Asset Hierarchy

Parent-child relationship between assets (e.g., production line contains machines).

Meter

Measurement device on an asset. Types: RUNTIME, PRODUCTION, ODOMETER, GAUGE, COUNTER.

Meter Trigger

Automation rule firing when a reading meets a condition (ABOVE, BELOW, EQUALS, DELTA).

Organization Concepts

Company (Tenant)

Your organization. All data is isolated per company for security.

Location

Physical place in hierarchy: Building > Floor > Room. Reference: LOC-1...

Team

Group of users working together. Reference: TEAM-1...

Role

Set of permissions defining what a user can do. 12 built-in + custom roles.

Tip

Every entity has an auto-generated reference (WO-1, ASS-1, PM-1, etc.) for easy identification and search.
